GEI is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead our Geotechnical Team in our Upper Midwest Offices and add additional technical and business development expertise to our Central Region offices. The Senior Consultant will partner with others in the Region to support our profitable and growing operations.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage a team of geotechnical practitioners (geotechnical engineers, geologists, engineering geologists).
- Provide technical leadership and senior-level oversight and serve as Engineer of Record.
- Lead and grow the practice while generating significant revenue at target profit levels.
- Lead proposal efforts, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate in client-based professional organizations, and present at industry events.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff in the West Region offices.
- Serve in a leadership role model for company culture and values across the organization.
- Contribute to strategic planning at the office, regional, and national levels.
- Coordinate with Senior Geotechnical and Engineering Geology practitioners throughout the West and other Senior Consultants throughout the company to meet client needs.
- Overnight travel is required, approximately 20 to 30%
Minimum Qualifications
- 20+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering with 10+ years in a project management role.
- Minimum of M.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Michigan Professional Engineering license (PE) required. Geotechnical license (GE) preferred.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of the principles of geotechnical and earthquake engineering.
- Diverse technical background, including experience in dam and levee engineering and risk informed decision making.
- Seller-Doer with strong client relationships, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a track record of generating new work and growing a business segment.
- Recognized for technical excellence and the development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
- Collegial team builder with excellent interpersonal skills.
