Your role at GEI.
GEI’s New York City office is seeking a motivated & experienced geotechnical engineer to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include residential and commercial buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, and waterfront development.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design, and present data and results.
- Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
- Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects.
- Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting among others.
- Write letters and reports.
- Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical course work required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Must have passed the F.E. exam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel on temporary assignments as needed.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Structural course work a plus.
- Professional Engineer’s license preferred.
