GEI’s Process-Mechanical engineering group needs staff to support its growing Municipal and Industrial client base and is seeking entry and mid-senior level Process-Mechanical Engineers. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team. The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials and a strong desire to work on a broad range of industrial or municipal planning and design projects ranging from small to large in size. Design experience or strong interest with pumping and material handling systems is desired. The ideal candidate will have experience or strong desire to work with CAD design, laser scanning/3-D modeling and strong analytical software skills or the ability to learn and apply such tools in completing the various phases of projects from conceptual planning and modeling through final design. Candidate must have experience in analyzing project needs, and abilities to develope conceptual designs, flow sheets, and work with a team of design engineers in successfully completing projects. Excellent organizational skills are required. The ideal candidate will possess the above skills along with excellent communications skills and the ability to work closely with other engineers and technical staff.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

Experience to perform work as described below are desired. 

  • Project conceptualization and abilities to work on broad range of projects including:
    • Municipal/Industrial pumping and material handling systems
    • Municipal/Industrial wastewater treatment and water management systems
    • Sanitary sewer collection and wastewater treatment
    • Potable water treatment and distribution
    • Stormwater management and collection
    • Site development
    • Technical specification writing
    • Construction observation/management skills
  • Experience or desire to work in developing and understanding piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Use of or experience in Revit or other 3D design software is a plus
  • Ability to convert field information and work with a team to produce final design drawings
  • Prepare and evaluate project construction cost estimates and alternatives
  • Proven ability to work with various engineers on multiple discipline projects
  • Preparation of technical memos, reports, and construction specifications
  • Construction Experience including Field Observation of Administrative Tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or related field) is preferred but will consider candidates with other engineering degrees and related experience or interests.
  • Strong interest or design experience with material handling, pumping, and water treatment systems at municipal or preferably mining, paper or other heavy industry sites.
  • Ability and desire to obtain Professional Engineer license is preferred
  • GPS, GIS and 3D design software training or experience is a plus. 
  • Experience with HVAC design is a plus.
