We are seeking multiple seasonal ecological restoration field technicians in our Green Bay, Wisconsin office to implement project work in the ecological consulting and restoration management fields. Technicians assist with biological surveys and monitoring, ecological restoration, and natural resource management in a variety of natural communities across the state. S/he will use and maintain equipment, vehicles, and power tools, and will use technology (GPS, field tablets, computer) to document activities. This position requires an introductory level of skill and experience. Projects will involve field labor, technical knowledge/work, and/or supervision of field crews.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct herbicide application and mow/brush cut invasive species, knowledge of invasive plant species, and treatment methods.
  • Assist with the construction and implementation of ecological restoration projects including but not limited to—native tree and shrub planting, seeding, erosion control measures, etc.
  • Identification of native plants and knowledge of native plant communities.
  • Work under physically demanding conditions in variable weather and sometimes difficult terrain.
  • Technicians may be required to spend multiple nights per week out of town working at remote locations and to work irregular hours (30-55 hours per week, with overtime pay for more than 40 hours a week).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Driver's License.
  • May also be required to complete commercial driving requirements at the 10,000-26,000 lb. classification.
  • Technicians will be required to obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License for herbicide application, preference will be given to those who already have license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Standard First Aid, CPR, and Pesticide Applicator's License are preferred.
  • Experience supervising field crews of 2-6 team members.
  • 1-3 years of ecological restoration related work experience and experience with herbicide application a plus.
  • Ability to identify native and non-native plant and animal species.
  • GPS/ArcGIS experience is a plus.
  • Positive, flexible, team-oriented attitude, with the willingness and desire to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Drive and operation of trucks with trailers, ATVs/UTVs tractors w/ attachments, skid steers, chainsaws, brushcutters, and small engines/pumps.
