GEI is seeking a Senior Civil/Water Resources Engineer in Bakersfield, CA to support our water resources planning and engineering practice in the Central Valley. This position requires technical expertise and exceptional coordination skills. Daily responsibilities include technical work, project management, mentoring staff, business development, and client management. Functional responsibilities include planning, directing, and monitoring multi-disciplinary projects with various degrees of technical complexity. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage client relationships, develop key account plans and deliver proposals.
  • Develop and guide strategic direction on civil engineering projects.
  • Prepare engineering plan sets and related work products.
  • Mentor mid and junior level engineers.
  • Provide guidance to staff and assist with developing water resources plans in Kern County, including urban water management, agricultural water management, groundwater management, integrated regional water management, master drainage, and basin plans.
  • Conduct technical analysis related to water resources management and forecasting, including evaluation of water supply, demands, and groundwater conditions.
  • Travel to project sites may be required, including overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in an engineering related field (civil, environmental, geotechnical or mechanical).
  • E. registration in the state of California is required.
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience assisting water agencies and/or governmental entities in water policy analyses, developing water supply projects, and developing plans to comply with new water related policies and regulations.
  • Well versed in water supply, groundwater and conjunctive use.
  • Knowledgeable of CEQA, NEPA, SGMA, and other regulations that influence water supply and management practices.
  • Highly-skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
