GEI’s New York City office is seeking a motivated & experienced Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager to assist with a variety of projects within the New York City Metro area, and throughout the region. Work will primarily pertain to buildings and other structures, including environmental structures, and parking garages. Work will include structural design and analysis of building systems and other structures, distress analysis, condition surveys, non-destructive testing, structural evaluation, and rehabilitation of buildings and other structures.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
  • Perform structural condition surveys, including non-destructive testing to document existing conditions and identify the type, cause, and extent of structural issues or deterioration.
  • Develop condition survey reports and evaluate existing structures.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for new construction and the repair of existing structures.
  • Perform site visits and document the progress of work and compliance with the design intent.
  • Prepare proposals and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • PE license in New York State required.
  • 15 or more years of experience in structural design and structural investigations.
  • Experience with NYC/NYS Building Codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to job locations as needed. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • QEWI/QPSI or ability to become is preferred.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Published and presented technical articles.
