GEI is seeking respected professionals who aspire to have a positive impact on GEI’s Structural & Geostructural team and are interested in working collaboratively with a talented team of design, management, and technical leaders.  This field-based position will support GEI’s Structural & Geostructural engineering practice in our Markham, Ontario office, which provides services in a wide range of settings across North America.  Our collaborative team works across Canada and the US.  Representative projects for the structural and geostructural field range from above grade and below grade structures, support of excavation, and underground construction. 
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Experience with functional and detailed structural design
  • Develop structural/geostructural plans from existing survey data
  • Use of CADD and REVIT softwares for detailing structural projects
  • Prepare engineering drawing sheets
  • Convert field information to final drawings
  • Preparation of technical memos, reports, construction plans and specifications
  • Preparation and coordination of permit, bidding, and documentation sets
  • Collaboration with colleagues, clients, owners and agencies for coordination of projects
  • Support Project Managers in their daily roles for project specific tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to attend sites on an as needed basis to observe and record as-constructed works, reporting to the project P.Eng.
  • Direct and coordinate the assembly of final plan sets from multiple discipline work
Minimum Qualifications
  • Engineering Intern (E.I.T.) or Architectural Technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be certified
  • 5-10 years of structural/civil design and inspection experience 
  • Experienced with standard analysis programs, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Microsoft office programs, and other associated programs is desired
