GEI’s New York Metro Area offices are seeking a motivated and experienced waterfront or structural engineer to grow our waterfront group. This individual will be assisting with the design and analysis of new and existing waterfront structures for projects on Long Island, within the New York City Metro area, and throughout the region.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform engineering analyses and design.
- Perform computations, prepare spreadsheets, develop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Perform / Lead field surveys and inspections of existing structures.
- Perform construction field inspections for activities such as pile driving, bulkhead wall construction, and concrete placement.
- Assist with preparation of engineering reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Structural, Civil or Coastal Engineering.
- 2-6 years of experience working in waterfront/coastal engineering.
- Certified Engineer in Training (EIT).
- Ability to earn Professional Engineer License.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel are required. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Structural steel, concrete and/or timber design experience.
- Foundation design course or experience.
- Familiarity with ASCE Design Codes & Guidelines.
- Experience with AutoCAD software.
