GEI is looking for an experienced seller-doer to join our New York City (NY, NY) office. Specialty areas of practice include environmental investigation and remediation, due diligence, environmental permitting, and NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) and NYCOER Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) projects. Primary responsibilities are to help lead, manage, and grow our Metro-NYC environmental practice while generating new client and project-related opportunities. Other responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, training, and mentoring staff. This is an opportunity to build and grow a practice at a nationwide, highly supportive organization that takes a long-term view of the marketplace.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Support the development of new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI’s other core business areas (e.g., geotechnical, water resources, coastal / waterfront, ecological, and permitting services).
  • Generate and lead proposal efforts.
  • Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact.
  • Participate in client-based professional organizations and present at industry events.
  • Ensure project deliverables are accurate, on time, and within budget.
  • Partner with GEI colleagues, other project managers, and practice area leaders.
  • Mentor staff.
 Minimum Qualifications 
  • B.S. in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering; M.S. is a plus.
  • 18 plus years of progressive experience in environmental science or engineering consulting with ten plus years in a project/program management role.
  • Diverse technical background including significant expertise in area of specialty.
  • Recognized for technical excellence and/or the development of client-focused, creative and practical solutions.
  • Seller-doer with strong regional (Metro-NYC area) relationships, entrepreneurial spirit, and a track record of generating new work.
  • Ability to access and develop new client relationships.
  • Clear working knowledge of NYCRR Part 375 and Part 360 and its application to New York City and New York State.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Experience in on-site implementation of environmental remedial actions and management or responsible role in oversight of construction activities.
