GEI’s Southern California offices continues to grow and are seeking highly motivated Data Analysts to join our team. The candidate will assist senior level staff with new and existing clients and project work. This individual must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a project team of ecologists, environmental scientists, and engineers. The candidate will provide support for ongoing office and field tasks. This individual shall conduct ecological field studies, assist in the development of ecological restoration plans, conduct aquatic ecosystem restoration and enhancement, and assist in the development lake and/or watershed management plans.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Data analysis and QA/QC will be central to the entry-level data analyst role.
- Knowledge and experience with basic environmental analytical lab testing techniques, sample collection methodologies, ability to follow strict QA/QC procedures; and knowledge of basic to advanced data analysis statistical and graphical procedures including GIS.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Participating in field efforts and lab testing programs
- Preparing data summaries, data analysis, QA/QC
- Assisting in the preparation of study reports
Minimum Qualifications
- 1-8 years of experience in a position performing similar data engineering tasks
- Proven record of ability to design, manage, and support MS SQL Server and Azure databases
- Ability to work with the following programming/mark-up/scripting languages preferred: VB.net, python, XML, javascript, and R
- Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university
- MS SQL Server/Azure certification preferred
- Ability to develop project plans and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with attention to detail and stakeholder needs
- Able to critically analyze and solve problems of a complex nature
- Excellent Communication skills
- Able to work on multiple projects of moderate complexity simultaneously and independently
- Proficient in organization and time management skills
- Familiarity with engineering, environmental science, and/or chemistry subject matter preferred.
- Able to work effectively in GEI’s partnership model, including a team environment, building rapport and relationships.
