GEI Consultants is seeking multiple aquatics technicians based out of our Sacramento office to implement project work such as: boat aquatic invasive species inspections, public education, and outreach. This position is entry level and no prior experience is required. Position duties will require long hours outdoors, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, and standing. This position is expected to last for most of the summer and can potentially be flexible with school or other work schedules.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Conduct boat inspections at marinas/boat launches. 
  • Write and maintain daily monitoring and inspection logs.
  • Educate boaters on aquatic invasive species and how to prevent the spread.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • A typical workday consists of an 8- to 12-hour day with a 30-minute lunch, two ten-minute breaks, and includes irregular hours (20-55 hours per week) and irregular starting and quitting times, in accordance with the requirements of the assigned job. Weekend work will also be required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Must hold a valid Driver's License and have a clean DMV record and compliance with company safety protocols and procedures are required.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills and experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn quickly through on-the-job training.
  • Comfort with speaking to members of the public.
  • Excellent and proactive communication with team members.
  • Basic computer experience including Microsoft Office software.
    Desired Qualifications 
    • Some prior education or awareness of aquatic invasive species.
    • Familiarity with watercraft (boats, personal watercraft).
